The historic Mayfair Hotel, where Cary Grant reportedly left the first “chocolate on a pillow”, was in poor condition and occupancy was low when purchased by Magnolia Hotels, a boutique hotel operator from Colorado. HBD provided preconstruction services that resulted in the team meeting the required budget for the project to move forward and constructed this 155,000 SF, 18 story, 182 room hotel and adjoining ballrooms – returning it to a first-class facility. A unique bar in the Mayfair Room was designed and constructed along with the addition of a new stained glass to match other areas of stained glass in the first floor area. HBD’s carpenters provided the craftsmanship necessary to return many of the moldings to their original form.
